About Us
Grandpa’s Tackle Box is a veteran owned and operated business located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Grandpa has been a life long fisherman. He grew up in a small Southern Ontario Town, which had easy access to Lake Erie and the Grand River. In his youth, he made countless treks to the river carrying his Zebco fishing pole and Old Pal Tackle Box. Even after the military took him away from home, his rod and tackle box came with him. Spending many an evening after work and weekend exploring the local water ways. This love of fishing was passed down to his family. When he’s not in his workshop, Grandpa can be found on his boat on one of the many lakes in and around Kingston, or on the Bay of Quinte.
Grandpa had been tinkering with spinner baits for personal use for some time, when he purchased a large box of fly-tying equipment from an online auction house. Inside that box was about seven pounds of bare lead ¼ oz jig heads, a large supply of bare fly hooks and every known feather and species of fur used in fly tying. More tinkering occurred, one thing led to another, then he purchased a lead melting pot, jig molds, hooks, etc. Fast forward several years and here we are.
All of Grandpa’s Tackle Box jigs are made to order with care and attention to detail. We have a huge selection of paint and tying material. Grandpa’s Tackle Box accepts bulk orders for products, as well as custom orders. We are confident that Grandpa’s work will speak for itself.
